About me

Thank you for coming my blog. I live in Japan with my cat. From my childhood, my parents took me to Buddhism temples, Shinto shrines and gardens, because my father’s grandfather had liked to go there with my father as a child, history repeats itself, I’ve visited these places ever since I could remember. Therefore I lived in an old capital city Otsu near Kyoto in my schooldays by good luck, I used to go to see temples and shrines after school very often. Walking along the riverside of Kamo River, I imagined the ancient’s people’s living, and read many historical books or classical novels. At the grad school, I studied Japanese literature, especially classical novel “The Tale of Genji” that was written by a court lady Murasaki-shikibu about 1,000 years ago. I am very happy to introduce the world of Japanese literature, history, garden, nature, architecture by the pictures of those historical place and setting of books in this blog. If you have something questions about Japan or this blog, leave a comment or send me E-mail. Finally, I’m afraid of my poor English disturbing your reading. I think I have to improve my language skill to write a blog in English. Please tell me if you cannot understand the sentence. Thanks.

  1. Thanki you for finding me. I am going to love delving into your blog and learning about your culture (and looking at your beautiful photographs):)

    • Welcome to my blog! My cat’s name is “Myau-kun”, but sometimes our family calls him “Myau-taro”. (Taro is a classical boy’s name.) At night, he always jumps up my desk to try to disturb the PC. He is a naughty sweet boy!

  2. PS Your cat looks very contented – what is he called?

    • Thank you for coming to my blog. I heard there are a lot of immigrant from Japan in your country or other area in South America. Now are kids Sansei (3rd generation of immigration) or Yonsei (4th generation)? I watched a TV program that 1st or 2nd generation of immigrant cried when they saw the figure of Mt. Fuji (Japan’s highest mountain) on the video. I felt deep sympathy for them, and thanked for that countries people who helped immigrants.

  13. Myau Myau San – Ohaiya Gozaimasu. It is discovering blogs like yours that fill my life with incredible joy. I drink my morning coffee at my desk, but I have traveled to Japan. I am there, following you through your life. Myau-Kun is a beautiful cat. He looks like our cat Basil. Basil lived for 20 glorious years. My daughter lived in Tokyo. I was thrilled to spend time there. Virginia

    • Konnichiwa! Thank you for visiting this blog. I’m so happy that you enjoy my blog and Japan’s pictures. Tokyo is a metropolis with a lot of entertainments, sightseeing, restaurants and shops, and business, so I hope your daughter had spent good life. Well, I told Myau-kun that you praised him. He seemed to be glad. Thanks!

      • Ohaija Gozaimasu. Please give Myau-kum a good scratch behind his beautiful ears and perhaps a tummy rub for good measure.
My daughter completely embraced Japan. She went to school five days a week to study the language, and had a sensei to help her learn the customs, manners and more language at home. By the time she left Japan she could read, write and speak Japanese fluently. She also studied the ancient art of ink painting, making her own ink from charcoal and so on. Virginia

        • Hi, today is very hot that Myau-kun is sleeping on the entrance tiles. Cats know the best place in the house, entrance is the most wonderful in my home tonight. How wonderful your daughter is! Amazing!
