Hotokegaura (Buddha’s seashore) in Aomori prefecture is steep rock precipitous cliff. I took a ship at Sai in about 35 minutes. It was a little bit rain, so the fog filled mountains. Hotokegaura has 2km-long cliff and huge rocks. It was a stark landscape. Keigetsu Omachi, Travel writer, visited here in 1922, and made a Japanese poem that “Hotokegaura is not a human’s place where was made by God or Devil.” (神のわざ 鬼の手つくり仏宇陀 人の世ならぬ処なりけり) I remind the mystery “Kiga Kaikyo” by Tsutomu Minakami, who wrote that a murder escaped here. I thought this desolate place was suitable for the escape.
