Toji temple is one of my favorite temples in Kyoto. Its 5-floor pagoda is the tallest (55meter) in Japan’s old pagoda. This was built by 3rd Shogun Iemitsu Tokugawa in 1644, and original was made in 826 by Kobo Daishi. When a super express train Shinkansen closes to Kyoto station, you can watch this tower on the left side. Whenever I see this pagoda, I begin to realize that I really come to Kyoto.

Amazing post and to gorgeous photos. I have not seen many pagodas in my life; it was in 1960 in Copenhagen, Denmark I was the first one. This is something incredible.
I prefer to visit temple and shrine. Especially I suppose pagoda is symmetric and beautyfuil. I don’t know there is a pagoda in Copenhagen. It may be nice when it covered by the snow on it.
