I stopped at Saruhashi in Otsuki city of Yamanashi prefecture. Saruhasi means “monkey bridge” in English, because Shirako built this bridge after watching some monkeys joined their hands and used vine to cross the valley in 7 century. Saruhashi is one of the three strange bridge in Japan. It is only one wooden bridge that was constructed by the four overhanging principles without a bridge pier. It is 31 meters from the bridge to the Katsura river.
