Shigetada Hatakeyama (1164-1205) was a faithful Genji’s samurai in Kamakura period who fought with Genji against Heike. One of his famous stories was that he shouldered his horse in order to take care of it when his general Yoshitsune and his troop had to descended the steep Hiyodori precipice for attacking behind Heike troop. This story shows that he was a kind and strong man. There are 6 Gorin-tower for him and his family’s tomb at his hometown Fukaya city in Saitama prefecture. In this park, there is a his bronze figure shouldering his horse, too.
