During this summer, they have been holding the Nijyo Castle (Kyoto) special exhibition at Edo-Tokyo museum. I can find the beautiful ornament of the gate of Nijyo castle here. In Kyoto, it seemed not so big because the whole of gate was big, but in the exhibition, they are large and painted so splendid when I can watch them closely.
The post of Nijyo Castle is here
- Nijyo Castle Exhibition at Edo Tokyo Museum
- Edo Tokyo Museum, Ryogoku in Tokyo. It is close to Ryogoku Kokujikan (it is held of Sumo tornament.)

- The room of Nijyo Castle in Kyoto. The paper door was painted of the huge pine tree. (from the post card)
- Mascot of this exhibition, Mattaka Shogun (Pine Eagle Shogun). I like him.
- After Nijyo Castle exhibition, I visited at the another exhibition of the calligrapher Sanu Aoyama at Tokyo National Museum at Ueno park. I prefer the calligraph, too. This exhibition is wonderful.

A really wonderful article. Thanks!
These pictures are a little bit darker than original. They are gorgeous.
Beautiful Pics… Seeing your pics makes me want to travel to Japan right now… š
There are many place to see in Japan. Please come to Japan to watch the real Nijyo castle that is more wonderul than these pictures, I guess.
I’m curious. The Vancouver Art Museum won’t allow cameras at their exhibits. How were you able to take photographs at this Museum?
I wrote “from post card”….
The others are leaflets, so there are some letter of advertisement in the pictures. (Maybe it was difficult to judge whther it is letter or mark, they are explanation in Japanese.)
