At the modernization of Japan, they had changed from traditional thatched roof houses to modern houses at the village of Japan. The residence of Miyama decided to stay at their traditional houses. I guess it is hard to preserve these houses and their lives.

- Horse chestnut tree at Kita-Inari shrine at Miyama. The hight is 25meter, trunk 510cm. Tree age is about 400 years. It is an object representative of a divine spirit.

We have two horse chestnut trees in our yard that date back to 1840. One is in bad shape and will probably fall down in a bad storm, but we let it live as long as it can.
You have old trees in your garden! That’s wonderful.
The tree is certainly a divine spirit. Amazing how old it is and how beautiful still 🙂
Thank you for your comment. Most of Japanese shrine or temple have a huge old trees in their garden. I like to take a photo of them.
