Nijyo Castle (Nijyo-jyo) was constructed in 1603 by Ieyasu Tokugawa for the residence of Kyoto. In 1867, Syogun Yoshinobu Tokugawa returned the Tokugawa shogunate regime to Meiji Imperial Court in this castle. It was the historical turnaround from Samurai feudal system to Meiji modernization. There are some displays that reproduce these events by dolls. Gardens and many cherry blossom trees are wonderful. Princess Diana came here in 1886. She wore a kimono, which was given for the present, at the garden party here for a moment. It tickled Japanese heart.
