Ryoanji temple was constructed by Katsumoto Hosokawa in 1450. This temple is national treasure and famous about their rock (stone) garden “Sekitei” which is a type of Kare-San-Sui style that means the traditional (Chinese or Japanese) dry landscape garden, therefore they didn’t use water, grasses or flowers in the garden. The garden expresses the mind of Zen by stones. The width is 22m, depth is 10m, at the rectangle flat area, they covers white small stones and set big 15 stones. Someone says these stone was shown the tiger passing the river with her three baby. The other says we can’t watch every 15 stones at once, therefore it expresses the imperfection of life. What do you imagine in this stone garden?
